New Branch Location! New Quantum Logo!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to my Blog! What you see above is our new quantum based logo.

I'm pleased to announce that we have opened a new branch for our hypnosis business. A year ago, we registered a new business name to integrate many other healing modalities under one roof. It's the Advanced Institute of Complementary Healthcare. That time it was registered under the Marshall Road address. Now that we have found a new venue at No. 203-A Goldhill Centre, Thomson Road, Singapore, we have changed the address from there to here.
We are happy to announce that we have started operations at this place in November of 2008. Many hypnosis clients have walked through our doors and benefitted much and will continue to do so. Now instead of only myself, we have a number of other therapists, mainly my graduates who are also working here. Come to think of it, I think they are a very lucky lot as they do not have to worry about high overheads or about business costs or about trying to establish themselves. By joining me in my team, they have become a member of the best hypnosis and complementary healthcare centre in Singapore.

Well, do you know what AICH stands for, other than Advanced Institute of Complementary Healthcare? This is what it means.............................

For hypnosis to take place in a consultation room there must be consent and the willingness to participate. The hypnotist is not a magician who can wave her wand and create hypnosis instantly without the prior consent of her client. Before a formal session starts, the hypnotist asks the client, “Would you like to do hypnosis with me?” Only if the client agrees does the hypnotist proceed.

If touching of the client is necessary during the session, the hypnotist asks for permission to touch specific areas of the body: “May I have permission to touch your hand, arm, shoulder or forehead?” Once these preliminaries are over, the action starts. And while the client is in hypnosis, the hypnotist lets the client know if she is going to touch her despite having got permission earlier: “In a moment, I am going to lift your right arm gently by your wrist…” This is to prevent the client from being shocked by a sudden touch. What happens during the process has a lot to do with the power of the client’s mind and the client’s trust in the hypnotist.

Many people wonder how hypnosis works. They experience hypnosis and are amazed by it, yet they are perplexed as to how it happens. It must be emphasized that the hypnotist does not perform any magic. She acts as a facilitator and guides the client to harness the power of his mind so that he can remove mental or emotional blockages and reprogram his mind for mental and emotional wellbeing and for success.

The hypnotist also encourages the client to visualize what they want. This is because we can easily change our life by changing our thoughts. For example if the client visualizes herself growing thin, and she is able to continue this in self hypnosis, she is bound to start taking action to achieve a slimmer self.

Let me give you another example:Take a golfer who is playing in a foursome. The first three players hit the ball right down the middle of the fairway 250 yards deep. The fourth and final player steps up and then dribbles the ball about 100 feet off the tee. He looks up and says, “I knew that would happen”. That is a self fulfilling prophecy. He has fulfilled his expectations by changing his swing just enough to dribble it off the tee. He has visualized failure.

On the other hand, a different foursome with the same scenario for the first three players, only the fourth player visualizes hitting the ball straight down the middle just a little further than the rest of his group. He steps up to the tee and “wham” swings perfectly, just as he thought he would. He has visualized success and has succeeded.

This idea is summed up by Earl Nightingale, the late Dean of Personal Development who was fond of saying, “You are what you think about.” We become exactly what we visualize, or image ourselves to be. If we image ourselves as poor we will be poor whereas if we image ourselves as having abundance we will have abundance. We tend to go in the direction we allow our minds to take us.

Our subconscious takes us in the direction of our dominant thoughts or visualizations. For example, if we constantly think about being “overweight” our computer subconscious mind steers us in the direction of “being overweight”. If we think about the lack of money or financial success we will continue to lack money and financial success.

But we can change this by changing the way we think habitually. So to gain our desired body image we must first visualize ourselves at the weight we want to obtain. If we want to have financial success we need to visualize ourselves achieving the success we desire. But this can’t be done using willpower alone but rather we must use the imagination. We need to use our powers of visualization or self hypnosis.

Clients need to be coached by a professional hypnotist about the correct way to harness their powers of visualization. The hypnotist teaches the client how to achieve a very relaxed physical and mental state. Then positive suggestions are given to help them visualize the positive changes they want to manifest in their lives. These suggestions can help the client to change his habitual ways of thinking and quick changes can be seen when the new beliefs have been installed in the subconscious.

Hypnosis can be a powerful shortcut to success. By using the power of the subconscious mind a person can make rapid improvements in any area of their life. The professional hypnotist can help a person “reprogram” their subconscious minds in a more desirable direction, helping them to live the life of their dreams.

Hypnosis for Pain Management

Hi everyone! I do not subscribe just to one particular method to deal with all clients. And that is why each year, I find myself attending workshops, seminars and reading innovative books. Not only do I find that my skills and expertise increase as each year passes and that I am able to utilise the best possible options for my clients, I also find that I am able to inspire my hypnosis students to do the same and not to stagnate after having learnt a particular skill or techniques. In fact, we do have regular sharing sessions during which we come together to share ideas gleaned from workshops or seminars that each one of us has attended.

I would like now to highlight how hypnosis can be used to manage pain. I am going to do this by giving you an example of how I used hypnosis to help someone close to me. Ofcourse I have also used it on paying clients but for the moment, I shall leave them out of this and allow me to share
how I used hypnosis on my mum to first calm her just before she was wheeled into the operating theatre for her knee surgery and then to relieve her of her severe knee pain after the surgery was done.

A little bit of background information may come in useful. First, my mum has had knee problems ever since she was in her thirties. It just got worse with each passing year. Out of desperation and inability to tolerate the pain, my mum agreed to have a knee replacement done on one of her knees. This was about eleven years ago when my mum was in her fifties. That time I was not yet a hypnotherapist and also I was just setting up my new business and I was busy. I had been with her the night before the operation when my mum overheard that the doctor had to attend a court case and she immediately started doubting the doctor. I was not able to allay her fears. The next day I was with her when she was wheeled into the operating theatre; none of my siblings were there; all had to go to work. This added to her mental and emotional unease.

What we didn't expect was that complications would arise mainly due to my mum's uneasy state of mind despite the fact that she was under general anaesthesia. The doctor had actually made an incision but he was not able to continue with the knee replacement surgery because in his words, 'they had to stop to save her life'. Whatever it was, my mum still had to recover from the wound caused by the incision and she suffered a great deal of emotional trauma. And despite her condition getting worse and despite the excruciating pain, my mum refused to have another operation. It was only in 2005 when she was in her sixties that she finally relented and agreed to have the knee replacement done. This time, we did not take any chances and we discussed her earlier experience with the doctor who also took a number of precautions. I also used hypnotic language to ease her worries and to give her the moral and emotional support that she needed.

And I did a pre-operative hypnosis session with her to calm her nerves and to make her feel safe and secure. Also this time all my siblings were also there to give her the moral support. Thankfully all went well and my mum's operation was a success. However, by the time my mum was wheeled out of the operation theatre, the anaesthesia had worn off and she was in great agony. The doctor had prescribed morphine for her but due to some reason, the nurses in her ward were too busy and they were delayed. With my mum's permission, I hypnotised her and put her into a deep sleep; she slept for hours without feeling the pain. When the nurse came, I instructed them to give her the pain killer only after she wakes up. I then left my mum in the care of the hospital staff as I had to go back to my office. My mum's orthopaedic surgeon was also impressed when he heard about how hypnosis helped my mum to 'forget' her pain and fall asleep.

This experience made my mum very brave and in 2006, she had a second knee replacement done, also successful. Now my mum is able to walk without having to stop and scream in pain at every step. All paises to God for making this possible! You may be wondering why I attribute this to God. Well from my experience I have learnt that prayers work! In fact during the months leading up to her first operation, I had been praying fervently for a cure for my mum, and it came in the form of my mum agreeing to be operated upon and in all other factors just falling into place to enable it to happen successfully.
