Hi everyone! I am Fauziah Shah, a Singaporean Consulting Hypnotist. Welcome to my hypnosis blog! Please make sure to visit this site often as I shall be writing and adding lots of interesting stuff here.

Today I am going to tell you about the time when I used hypnosis to mask the pain that a student was having so that we could apply medication on her injured finger. First of all, some background information is necessary. In addition to being a hypnotherapist and a hypnosis certification trainer, I also run a private language school in Singapore, Petra Education Centre, that specializes in the teaching and learning of English. As a Ministry of Education approved private school and as a Case Trust accredited member, our school caters to the needs of both local as well as international students of all ages except infants, very young toddlers and senile or psychotic people. So the majority of you are welcome! By the way is your IQ above 70? About 90% of the population are, so if yes, you are welcome too. This is also applicable for our hypnosis clients.

A few years ago, we had a 13 year old child from a foreign country who got a student pass to study a six month course at our centre. When she first came, she could hardly speak any English. And one day in her first few weeks at the school, she came to school with a sprained little finger. Thankfully it was her left hand and she was right-handed!

However the finger started to swell in class and she was unable to concentrate in her lesson. The teacher brought her down and fortunately I happened to be in the office. Our front desk staff immediately called the guardian who said he was aware of the sprain and that he did not think it was necessary to send the child to a doctor although we did tell him that we could easily send her to the doctor next door. I did a little preliminary check to confirm that she needn't see the doctor and then offered to help relieve her pain with hypnosis.

Her guardian gave his approval, so I used the eye-roll on pen induction and then did some visualization and anchored her good feelings with a body movement (which will act as the trigger). And within the next few minutes, the girl was deep in hypnosis. I did not assume she was in hypnosis; I tested her using the Aron's Depth Scale. Assured that she was in a deep state, I proceeded with pressing her affected finger, and massaging the 'medication' onto the injured area. The so-called 'medication' is a must-have 'medical' product in any home, office or school. Its curative powers I discovered while bringing up my own children. It's actually a very old (being in the market for a long time) cologne called 4711. It is good to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and is especially good for sprains!

What was amazing was that in hypnosis, the girl did not feel the pain in her little finger despite the fact that I was massaging her finger and straightening it. Even her little cousin was standing open-mouthed next to her and marvelling her feat. As soon as I had her snap out of hypnosis, her finger started hurting again and she refused to even let me touch it gently. After that first time, each time I wanted her to reach the same state, it took her only a few seconds and we applied 'medication' on her finger thrice a day for two days before it was alright. And each time she was in deep hypnosis, she did not feel the pain! Hey, that's thumbs up for effective pain management. What do you think?
